Tangata Atumotu Trust

On Mondays, DORA has been parked alongside the river, adjacent to the South Christchurch Library for Computers in Homes classes with Tangata Atumotu Trust. It is a wonderful venue, with the gurgling river running beside us. Wonderful to be able to park her anywhere for a class :)

Filming with EEO Trust

Today DORA spent a bit of time tripping around Christchurch while filming for the ANZ and EEO Trust Awards. We finished up with a Computers in Homes class at Wharenui School, with principal Gretchen Smith and trainer Joe Davidson.  We were lucky enough to have a chance meeting with MP Amy Adams, who has always supported the Computers in Homes and Stepping Up programmmes.

CEISMIC

As DORA is a quake initiative, the University of Canterbury is taking this blog and archiving it for prosperity.
"When we first decided to build an archive of earthquake-related digital content we knew we wanted to store images, stories, and media, and we wanted to avoid the fragmentation that often results when a variety of organizations build repositories that can't share with each other. A bright spark came up with the CEISMIC acronym (Canterbury Earthquake Images, Stories and Media Integrated Collection) and interest snow-balled...."
DORA's blog is not live yet.

DORA at the Pier

DORA was successful in providing wifi via her massive mast to the registration team at the start of the Sandcastle Competition on Saturday. This meant that registrations could be entered directly onto a Google Doc. Using the online environment also helped speed up the process when it game to gathering results and calculating winners. Ideally, judges should have digital devices on the beach with them as they are judging. This would totally eliminate the need for all that paper!!!  Maybe next year......  It was wonderful to be able to test DORA's capabilities in this way, and to support the Pegasus Bay Trust.
